One supply point, one standard
A buyer in Lusaka, Harare, Maputo or Lubumbashi has the same problem as a buyer in Johannesburg: the lifting tackle has to arrive certified, traceable and ready for the site's lifting equipment register. Toco Lifting solves that from one place. Toco is a Department of Labour approved Lifting Machinery Entity in South Africa (LME No. 008). Testing is overseen by a registered Lifting Machinery Inspector. Equipment is inspected and tested to recognised South African and international standards (SANS, the EN 818 chain series, the DMR 18 factors of safety) and each item is supplied with the correct certificate, a conformance inspection certificate or a performance load test certificate. Vital chain blocks are manufactured in Osaka, Japan to ISO and JIS specifications.
This is a quality benchmark, not an in-country approval. Each country applies its own regulations to lifting equipment in service, and the buyer remains responsible for that.
What Toco supplies across the region
- Vital chain blocks, 0.5 ton to 20 ton, and Vital lever hoists: Toco is the sole Southern African distributor.

How supply works: Ex Works Germiston
Toco does not ship or deliver and has no premises outside South Africa. The buyer sends the equipment list and quantities, Toco quotes Ex Works Germiston, the order is assembled, inspected or load tested and certified, and the buyer's freight forwarder collects at 19 Harriet Avenue, Driehoek, Germiston with the certificates and packing documents. Landlocked and coastal markets collect in the same way; the buyer's forwarder chooses the route. Toco has supplied lifting, lashing and rigging equipment on this basis since 2002, from the Germiston head office and the Cape Town branch.

Procurement questions
Which countries does Toco Lifting supply?
Buyers from any SADC country can buy from Toco: South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania, Angola, Malawi, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles and Comoros. Supply is the same for all of them, Ex Works Germiston with the certificates. Dedicated pages exist for Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and the DRC.
Does Toco deliver outside South Africa?
No. All supply is Ex Works Germiston. The buyer or its freight forwarder collects the equipment at the Germiston head office and arranges its own transport, export and import. Toco prepares the equipment, the certificates and the packing documents for collection.
What certification travels with the equipment?
Each item leaves Germiston with its certificate: a conformance inspection certificate for components and slings, or a performance load test certificate for equipment that is load tested. Testing is overseen by a registered Lifting Machinery Inspector to recognised South African and international standards. Certificates are issued in English.
Do South African lifting regulations apply in other SADC countries?
No. LME 008 is a South African Department of Labour registration and DMR 18 is a South African regulation. Toco presents them as the quality benchmark the equipment is supplied against. Each country applies its own regulations to lifting equipment in service, and the buyer applies them.
How do I get a quote for a site outside South Africa?
Send the equipment list with capacities, lift heights or lengths, quantities, the country of use and the collection arrangement to sales@toco.co.za or call 011 345 8800. Toco quotes Ex Works Germiston. Standard Vital and Taurus capacities are stocked in Germiston; slings, grommets and special configurations are quoted with a lead time.
