Lifting and Rigging Equipment Supplier to the DRC

Certified chain blocks, lever hoists, wire rope and slings for buyers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, supplied Ex Works Germiston.

English|Français

Toco Lifting supplies certified lifting and rigging equipment to buyers in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Chain blocks, lever hoists, steel wire rope, chain slings, wire rope slings, webbing slings and rigging hardware are supplied Ex Works from the Germiston head office in South Africa, each item with its certificate. Toco is the sole Southern African distributor of Vital chain blocks and lever hoists, manufactured in Osaka, Japan, and has supplied lifting equipment since 2002. Toco has no premises or testing facility in the DRC; the buyer or its freight forwarder collects at Germiston and routes the equipment north.

Supplied to the same standard, wherever it is used

Buyers in the DRC source lifting tackle from Toco Lifting because it arrives with the paperwork a mine, contractor or workshop needs before the equipment goes into service. Toco is a Department of Labour approved Lifting Machinery Entity in South Africa (LME No. 008). Testing is overseen by a registered Lifting Machinery Inspector. Equipment is inspected and tested to recognised South African and international standards (SANS, the EN 818 chain series, the DMR 18 factors of safety) and each item is supplied with the correct certificate, a conformance inspection certificate or a performance load test certificate. Vital chain blocks are manufactured in Osaka, Japan to ISO and JIS specifications.

This is a quality benchmark, not an in-country approval. The DRC applies its own regulations to lifting equipment in service, and the buyer remains responsible for that.

What Toco supplies to buyers in the DRC

Standard capacities are held in stock in Germiston. Slings and assemblies are made to the reach and working load limit the buyer specifies.

Supply into the copper and cobalt belt

The DRC's demand for lifting and rigging equipment is concentrated in the south east, in the copper and cobalt mining provinces of Haut Katanga and Lualaba around Lubumbashi and Kolwezi. The region sources much of its equipment through the South Africa and Zambia corridor, which is why an Ex Works Germiston supply point works: the buyer's forwarder collects in Germiston and moves the consignment north on a route it already runs. Toco supplies into that demand as a source of certified equipment, not as an operator in the DRC: the mining provinces are where the equipment goes to work.

The buyer sends the equipment list, Toco quotes Ex Works Germiston, and the buyer's freight forwarder collects the certified order at 19 Harriet Avenue, Driehoek, Germiston. Toco has supplied lifting, lashing and rigging equipment on this basis since 2002.

Procurement questions

Does Toco Lifting deliver to the DRC?

No. All supply is Ex Works Germiston, South Africa. The buyer or its freight forwarder collects the equipment at the Germiston head office and arranges its own transport, export and import. Most DRC buyers route equipment north through South Africa and Zambia; the forwarder handles that corridor. Toco prepares the equipment, the certificates and the packing documents for collection.

What certification comes with lifting equipment bought for use in the DRC?

Each item leaves Germiston with its certificate: a conformance inspection certificate for components and slings, or a performance load test certificate for equipment that is load tested. Testing is overseen by a registered Lifting Machinery Inspector. The certificates state the South African and international standards the item was inspected or tested to and are issued in English.

Do LME 008 and DMR 18 apply in the DRC?

No. LME 008 is a South African Department of Labour registration and DMR 18 is a South African regulation. Toco presents them as the quality benchmark the equipment is supplied against, not as Congolese compliance. The equipment is used in the DRC under Congolese regulations, which the buyer applies in service.

Is there a French version of this page?

Yes. The French version is at tocolifting.co.za/equipement-de-levage-rdc/. It carries the same facts and the same supply basis. Quotes and certificates are issued in English.
