Toco supplies drop forged eyebolts and eyenuts as part of its below the hook rigging hardware and lifting accessories range. Eyebolts are manufactured to DIN 580 and eyenuts to DIN 582, in sizes from 6 mm to 72 mm. They are supplied galvanised as standard, and are also available in stainless steel, with long shank eyebolts where a deeper thread engagement is needed. Each is a forged steel lifting point that gives a fixed, ring shaped attachment for a shackle, hook or sling.
An eyebolt has a threaded stud that screws into a tapped hole, while an eyenut has a threaded hole that screws onto a stud or bolt. Both provide a permanent lifting point on the equipment they are fitted to, so the right one depends on whether the mounting is a tapped hole or a projecting thread. Toco supplies both to suit the fixing on the load.
Eyebolts and eyenuts to DIN 580 and DIN 582 are rated for axial loading, a straight in line pull along the axis of the thread. The safe load reduces when the eye is pulled at an angle, so the rated working load limit set for each size must be observed and the lifting point chosen for the direction of pull. The stud must be fully engaged in a sound, matching thread, and the seat must bear evenly on the mounting face. Toco supplies the rated values for the size and type required on enquiry.
